Hon’ble Supreme Court issues notice in PIL filed seeking relief for women abandoned by their NRI husbands

New Delhi :- Pravasi Legal Cell(PLC) considering the plight and traumatic experience of innumerable women who were either abandoned by their NRI husbands after marriage or were made to suffer after being brought to a foreign land after marriage, had filed a PIL titled as Pravasi Legal Cell v Union of India & Ors.(W.P.(C)542/2019) before the Hon’ble Supreme Court .
The petition primarily seeks a guidelines to the police, immigration and Indian embassies around the world for speedy justice to be provided to the women abandoned by their husbands.
The petition is also seeking direction to the police at large to immediately intervene when complaints are made by women abandoned by her NRI husband and are being forced out of the matrimonial home by the relatives of the husband and others, to restrain the eviction of women from their matrimonial homes.
In the aforesaid matter the Hon’ble Apex Court has issued notice on March 22,2021.
