Significantly even those who booked tickets before the lockdown for flights during the lockdown will also be entitled to refund or credit shell if their flight had been cancelled.
New Delhi: Approving fresh DGCA rules in toto, the Supreme Court on Thursday directed all airlines to give refund or credit shell option till March 31, 2021, to passengers of all flights including international which were cancelled on account of lockdown imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

SC bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan was pronouncing judgment in the PILs filed by NGO Pravasi Legal Cell through advocate Jose Abraham and Air Passengers Association of India represented by senior advocate Aryama Sundaram seeking a refund for tickets cancelled during the lockdown. Abraham argued that those who are not availing credit shell should be given a full refund.
